11 A320 aircraft banned, grounded in hours after Ahmedabad airport incident

New Delhi: Hours after an A320 neo aircraft of private airline company Indigo suffered engine failure mid-air and made an emergency landing at Ahmedabad airport today, country’s air sector regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation(DGCA) put ban on the operations of 11 A320 neo aircraft that are powered by a certain series of Pratt & Whitney (P&W) engines.
As an effect, today itself 11 aircraft have been grounded. Of these 11 aircraft, 8 are operated by IndiGo and 3 by GoAir.
According to DGCA press release, the decision comes hours after an A320 neo aircraft of IndiGo suffered engine failure mid-air and made an emergency landing at Ahmedabad airport.
