BS Yeddyurappa takes oath as Chief Minister of Karnataka

Bengaluru: Legislative party leader of single largest party emerged after Karnataka assembly polls, Shri BS Yeddyurappa today took oath at Raj Bhavan here as new Chief Minister. The 75-year-old Lingayat leader took oath amid loud cheering by his supporters. Yeddyurappa was administered the oath alone, hours after the Supreme Court refused to stay his swearing-in. In a rare post-midnight courtroom battle, the Congress-JD(S) combine made a desperate legal push to stall the government formation. BSY reached Vidhan Soudha after taking oath. Governor Vajubhai Vala administered the oath. BJP which is short of 8 seats will need to prove majority on the floor of the house within 15 days.
