Gujarat Govt approves Rs.900-crore project to make Tapi River pollution-free; CM launches Rs 492.60 crore projects in Surat

Surat: Even as Gujarat Government has embarked on revival of 32 rivers as part of the month-long statewide Sujalam Sufalam Jal Sanchay Abhiyan-2018, it has approved Rs.900-crore project to render Tapi River permanently pollution-free. This was stated by Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani while speaking at a function at Sarthana locality in Surat while reviewing the progress of work to remover 18,000 Metric Tonne (MT) of algae from the rivers meandering through the municipal corporations.
Mr. Rupani said that Jal Sanchay Abhiyan-2018 for water conservation, which started with 517 JCB machines in collaboration with 450 organizations on Gujarat’s Foundation Day, has now gone up to 4,000 JCB machines in collaboration with 2,800 organizations. The number of labour engaged increased from 2,800 to 3.25-lakh now. It aimed at creating 11,000-lakh cubic feet of additional water storage capacity in the state.
Donors of Surat presented cheques totaling Rs.88.53-lakh towards the Jal Sanchay Abhiyan.
Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani gifts schemes worth Rs.429.60-crore
to Surat, stepped up online maps of Town Planning (TP) Schemes
Surat: Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani today gifted various projects worth Rs.429.60-crore for Surat Municipal Corporation, including inauguration of Rs.30.24-crore SUDA Bhavan, BRTS Workshop at Kosad, foundation laying of Rs.18.38- crore Sub Zone-B Administrative Building at Varachha, expansion of school, reading room and water supply scheme.
Speaking at a function, he recalled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set the trend of politics of development, in a deviation from Congress Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi who used to say that only 15 paise out of one rupee used to go the beneficiaries. Now when Mr. Modi allocates one rupee, works worth Rs.1.25 is implemented.
Mr. Rupani said that Gujarat Government has decided to complete Town Panning (TP) Schemes in six months, keeping all online maps ready, doing work with the speed of one new scheme every sunrise. The State is proceeding with equitable development of urban and rural areas, with latest command control system being implemented for solving public utility services at single window.
Ministers of State for Health Kishorebhai Kanani and that for Sports Ishwarbhai Patel, Mayor Asmitaben Shiroya, MPs C.R. Patil and Darshanaben Jardosh, MLAs, senior government officers and prominent citizens were present at the function.
CM opens ‘Smart City Summit Mega Event’ and ‘Startup Festival’ at Surat
Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani today inaugurated ‘Smart City Summit Mega Event’ and ‘Startup Festival’ at a function at Surat today. He also launched ‘My Surat’ Citizens’ Engagement Web Portal, Mobile App, Money Card and Coffee Table Book at the same function.
Speaking on the occasion, he said the Gujarat Government is committed to help the next generation create its own brand to make a success of the Union Government’s a flagship campaign Startup India. He defined Startup as an entity which could take two steps forward to solve an impending problem.
He said the Centre has accorded Smart City tag to as many as six cities of Gujarat, led by Surat as Number One in India. The cities providing basic civic amenities like roads, drainage, electricity and health are counted as Smart City. The Surat city, so far known as diamond city, silk city and bridge city, has undergone sea-change during the last two decades having earned the sobriquet of Smart City as well.
Mr. Rupani said that Surat city has incorporated all these amenities under one Command Control Centre, besides policing, with the help of technological innovations. It is being replicated in other cities of the state. The state’s urban habitat would soon become 50 per cent of the total population.
He presented awards to Best Startups at the Startup Festival being attended by 100 entrepreneurs.
Union Minister of State for Commerce & Industry C.R. Choudhry complimented Surat having judged as Number One among 100 Smart Cities in India for providing basic amenities like education, health and cleanliness. He told entrepreneurs that Government of India would extend support to new innovative ideas.
Gujarat Chief Minister unveils statue of Maharana Pratap
Surat: Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani today unveiled a statue of Mewad’s Maharana Pratap installed by Maharashtrian Rajput Samaj at Godadara in Surat at a function organised by Akhil Bharatiya Rajput Samaj.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that Maharana Pratap is a symbol of valour and saviour of nation, religion and culture, as an icon of sacrifice to fight the Mughals till his last breathe. He wished every youth take inspiration from the life and ideals of Maharana Pratap.
Mr. Rupani felicitated Bharat Singh Sisodia for donating prime land for the statue. He thanked Maharashtrian Rajput Samaj and Bharatiya Rajput Samaj for keeping aloft the ideals of Maharana Pratap.
Maharashtra’s Cabinet Minister Jay Kumar Raval was especially present at the function, besides Who’s Who of Surat.
