Govt universities in Gujarat to have common calendar; Navratri vacation introduced for the first time

Gandhinagar: The Government of Gujarat has announced a common academic calendar for all government universities across the State.
As per the common calendar the first part of academic calendar will have 95 days while the second part will have 95 days – thus the total academic period will be 102 days.
For the first time, the colleges will get 7-day Navratri vacation, while summer vacation will be 49-day long.
Barring medical and pharmacy, all other courses will be run as per the new calendar with effect from academic year 2018.
Other highlights:
– Admission process will need to be completed within 15 days of class 12 result.
– First term will be between 12 June to 4 November. It will be 95-day long term barring exam period. Internal assessment, exams, continuous assessment, weekly test, project work, group discussion – all will be needed to complete before 15 October.
– Navratri vacation will be 7-day long between 15 to 21 October.
– 22-31 October will have semester 1, 3, 5 university level exams.
– 28 November – 7 December will have semester 2, 4, 6 university level exams.
– 5 November – 18 November period will have a 14-day Diwali vacation.
– Second term will be 102-day long between 26 November – 24 April barring exam period.
– 5 March – 14 March university level exams of semester 1, 3, 5 and 19 March – 28 March 2019 semester 2, 4, 6 exams.
– 24 April -11 June 2019 period will have a 49-day long summer vacation.
