Suicide letter was a stunt: “Missing” intelligence cop returns home

Gandhinagar: A PSI rank official of Intelligence bureau who had gone missing leaving behind a letter in which he had alleged that he was being tortured by senior officials, today returned home and later went on to the Local Crime Branch to record his statement.

Anil Parmar, who had gone missing over a week ago, resurfaced today.

Before appearing in front of the LCB to record his statement, he told newsmen that he was fed-up of life and wanted to commit suicide but became emotional on appeal of his little daughter during talk over phone and decided to come back. With bearded and perplexed look the PSI broke down during interaction with media.

Head of the state Intelligence Bureau and ADGP, R B Brahmbhatt had to convene a press conference on September 27, a day after Parmar’s family members filed a missing complaint in Infocity police station here. He had said that Parmar was transferred from Khambalia to Gandhinagar after his alleged involvement in the financial transaction between two private companies. He had said that a departmental inquiry against him was also on and that several facts and figures in his letter were incorrect.

‘I appeal him through media to appear before us and put forth his side and assure him that whatever step would be taken would be according to law,’ he had said.

The ADGP had said that there were allegations of his hobnobbing with those involved in illegal mining too.

Notably in the letter Parmar has made allegations of mental torture against four police officials including two lady officials who were associated with the inquiry against him.

The IB ADGP had said that due to his conduct the police officials might have given him a warning but it was a matter of investigation.
