Labh Pancham, Gyan Panchami today; businesses reopen after Diwali and Gujarati new year day break

Gandhinagar: Businesses across Gujarat will reopen today on occasion of Labh Pancham after mini vacation of Diwali. Labh means benefit while Pancham means fifth day of Gujarati calendar month. Labh Pancham is fifth day of Gujarati calendar year. Businessmen, traders, shopkeepers close their businesses post Chopta pujan on Diwali day and reopen on Labh Pancham after holidays of Bestu Varsh(Gujarati new year day), Bhai Bij and two more off days. It’s considered auspicious to reopen businesses on Labh Pancham. It is believed that reopening business on Labh Pancham is beneficiary for business. Businessmen reopen their shops after writing Shubh(auspicious) and Labh(benefit) at door step using Kanku along with Swastik sign. Jain community also celebrates Gyan Panchami on this day. Tools and instruments used for writing are displayed in exhibition style at Jain Sangh premises. Goddess Saraswati is worshiped on this day.
