Bullet train project: Shifting of overhead cables to underground begins in two talukas of South Gujarat

Surat: Overhead cable lines will be converted to underground ahead of start of works for proposed Ahmedabad – Mumbai bullet train project. Some works in this direction have been started at Desad and Undach villages. Power poles are being erected at both these place at present.
National High Speed Railway Corporation(NHSRCL) had deposited Rs 1,72,34,210 in Gandevi power company on 17th April this year for underground conversion of over head cables of power company ahead of start of works for bullet train project. The villages in which underground cable laying works will take place include Kesli, Pati, Desad, Khergam, Vadsangal, Dhanori, Changa, Pathri Manekpor, Pinjra and Vegam. Proposed bullet train will pass over an elevated route. Overhead wire lines need to be shifted underground so that they don’t obstruct elevated corridor.
NHSRCL has also deposited Rs. 1,56,24,556 in Antaliya power company in South Gujarat on 18th of May this year. 2,934 meter long High Tension underground cables are to be laid in Nandarkha, Undach, Ghekti, Vankal villages across 32 places.
In total 7,334 meter cable will be laid underground in 13 villages of Gandevi taluka and 2 villages of Chikhli taluka. Works are to take place at 67 places. Power pole erection works at Desad and Undach have started.
