Another success in land acquisition for bullet train project in Surat district

Surat: In yet another success in land acquisition for proposed Mumbai – Ahmedabad high-speed railway project (bullet train project), land belonging to 14 farmers from the villages namely Vaktana, Goja, Bodad was acquired in exchange of around Rs. 23 crore compensation which is to be directly deposited in their bank accounts.
Land Acquisition Office in Surat had organised a function under the title of ‘Consent Agreement Programme’, in which Surat district collector and Bullet train project officer among others were present.
Total 41 farmers who have agreed for land acquisition are to get compensation of around Rs. 75 crore for their acquired land. Of them 14 farmers were paid Rs. 23 crore compensation in a function at Vaktana. The farmers who agreed for land acquisition for bullet train project are to be paid 80 per cent of total compensation amount in first instalment, and 20 per cent amount in second instalment. They are paid double the value of the house, bore well, well, trees etc assets.
