AM Naik, Jyoti Bhatt, Ganpat Patel, Joravarsinh Jadav, Abdul Khatri among Gujaratis to get Padma Award this year

New Delhi: The Government of India today announced the list of Padma Shree awardees on eve of Republic Day. Among those are several names from Gujarat that include Jyoti Bhatt for Art/painting, Mukta Pankaj Kumar Dagli – Social work/divyang welfare, Joravarsinh Jadav- Art/folk, Abdul Gafur Khatri – Art/painting, Vallabhbhai Marvaniya – Agriculture and Bimal Patel – Architecture.
Mumbai based L&T company’s captain A.M. Naik who is from South Gujarat has been conferred with Padma Vibhushan. Mumbai based Gujarati columnist Nagindas Sanghvi has been conferred with Padmashri in literature & journalism category. Gujarat origin foreign citizen from South Africa, Pravin Gordhan has been conferred with Padma Bhushan. Another Gujarati based in USA Ganpatbhai Patel (Ganpat University fame) has been conferred with Padmashri in literature & education category.
