Amit Shah dedicates wi-fi facility for 5 railway stations, a 100 ft high national flag in his constituency

Gandhinagar: Union Home Minister and Member of Parliament from Gandhinagar Lok Sabha Segment- Amit Shah today dedicated several passenger amenities and conveniences at various stations across Ahmedabad Division of the Western Railway.

Shah also dedicated a 100 feet high monumental National Flag during an event at Gandhinagar Capital railway station in his home state of Gujarat where CM Vijay Rupani was also present.
The home minister also dedicated Passenger Information System at Kalol station, Electronic Chart Display System at Sabarmati (Dharamnagar) station, Passenger Information System and Clocks at Chandlodiya station, the work of conversion of Rail level platform to High level platform at Chharodi and Sanand stations as well as Free Wi – Fi service facilities at Gandhinagar Capital, Sabarmati (Dharamnagar), Sabarmati (Central Jail), Moti Aadraj, Khodiyaar, Dabhoda and Rakhiyal stations.

A railway official said that these passenger related amenities will provide a better travelling experience to the passengers. The monumental National flag at Gandhinagar Capital has been installed at a cost of Rs. 16.53 lakhs and will instill a sense of pride and patriotism amongst the passengers. Also, the other passenger amenities such as Passenger Information System, Electronic Chart Display System and Free Wi – Fi gives an impetus to the Digital India initiative of the government.

The Passenger Information System (PIS) consists of coach guidance display boards at platforms, GPS enabled clocks and train arrival / departure boards at platforms. The free hi – speed Wi – Fi facility at stations have been provided under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and will help the passengers to access various rail related information as well as browse through various infotainment channels while on the go. The extension of platform No. 2 and 3 to accommodate 24 coach trains as well as increase in platform level at Sanand station and increase in platform level of PF No. 1 at Chharodi have been undertaken at a cost of Rs. 1.2 Cr and Rs. 77.5 lakhs respectively. This will enhance the safety of passengers while boarding/alighting from trains, he informed.

The function was also attended by Deepak Kumar Jha – Divisional Railway Manager of Ahmedabad Division alongwith various diginitaries, senior railway officials from W. Rly
Headquarters as well as from the Division.
