Motera Cricket stadium named as Narendra Modi Stadium

Motera: World’s largest cricket stadium at Motera in Gujarat inaugurated today by the President of India has been named as Narendra Modi Stadium. It’s part of proposed Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave for which bhoomi pujan was performed today by the President.The enclave will also have other Sports facilities including a Hockey stadium which is to be named after Dhyan Chand, announced Union Home minister Amit Shah while speaking in a function.
The world’s largest cricket stadium, named ‘Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium’, built by Gujarat Cricket Association at Motera here is spread over 63 acre and can seat 1.32-lakh spectator, as against the hitherto largest Melbourne cricket stadium with a capacity of 90,000.
The rebuilt stadium occupies 2,38,714 sq m, used 1,14,126 cu m concrete that stood on 260-tonne precast y-shaped pillars. This is the only cricket stadium which has 11 pitches, state-of-the-art subsoil drainage system to drain out rain water in 30 minutes. It has energy efficient LED floodlights, 45-50 per cent more efficient than conventional high mast variety.
It has four dressing rooms to be able to play two matches back-to-back, two gyms and other gadgets.
