Zydus hospitals discontinues Remdesivir sell
April 12, 2021
Ahmedabad: Dispensing of affordable Remdac brand Remdesivir injections was stopped today afternoon at Zydus hospitals in Thaltej area.
The people who were in queue for this round of distribution said that after hours-long queue that started since 9 pm a day earlier, it was announced in the morning that only those upto token number 601 would get injections. Later after couple of hours those above token number 381 were told that injections were out of stock and others can leave the place. When inquired by people whether already allotted token numbers today would be valid when the next round of distribution begins, may be tomorrow, the answer was ‘No’.
Some of those in queue claimed that at around 10 am, some police vehicles arrived, after which announcement to curtail distribution was made.
The people in queue said they were from various places across Gujarat.
It’s worth noting that the Gujarat High Court took note of long queues outside Zydus hospitals for Remdesivir injections. The Advocate General during his interaction with media persons later said, the government had nothing to do with it as it is not involved in this distribution taking place at private hospital.
