Covid-19 third wave possibilities: CM Rupani assigns tasks to senior officials

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has assigned the responsibility of real time monitoring of various time-bound preparations for possible third wave of Covid-19 pandemic in the State to State officials. All arrangements planned as part of preparedness for possible third wave of pandemic in the State described in the action plan which is to be implemented within next three months. The Chief Minister asked secretaries to take up the tasks assigned to them and start working on war foot basis from Thursday itself. The Chief Minister during the meeting also suggested that covid vaccination drive should be taken up in movement mode and vaccination centres should be set up on the pattern of polling booths. Gandhinagar, Wednesday: Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today assigned senior IAS officers the various responsibilities as nodal officers to augment healthcare infrastructure, real-time monitoring of hospital facilities available in the state to fight likely third wave of pandemic coronavirus Covid-19 to ensure minimum patients get infected.

He announced detailed Advanced Action Plan at a high-level Core Committee meeting here in presence of Deputy Chief Minister Nitinbhai Patel, Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasma, Energy Minister Saurabh Patel, Minister of State for Home Pradeepsinh Jadeja and others.

The officers begin their job from tomorrow on a war footing and the plan has to be put in place in three months.

Mr. Rupani said that let us all pray to God the third wave doesn’t happen, but all preparations have to be done to ensure minimum cases and deaths. We have to be ready with adequate number of beds, medicines, injections, kits, and ensure patients access to hospital facilities easily.

Plan is to have state-of-the-art Command and Control Centres at district level to be directly linked to the state-level CM Dashboard at the Chief Minister’s residence here for real-time monitoring.

The Chief Minister also called for widening the reach of vaccination programme from larger cities to smaller towns down to villages, on the lines of polling booths, with the collaboration of NGOs, social organisations and office-bearers.

Mr. Manoj Kumar Das and Mr. Harit Shukla – medicines, equipment, CT scan, RTPCR lab and other purchases.

Mr. Vijay Nehra and Mr. Sachin Gusia – state command and control room and district command and control room and Dashboard.
