Ahmedabad to get its longest flyover in city’s East

Ahmedabad: The city will get its longest flyover by year 2025. The proposed four-lane flyover will connect Narota Patiya with Galaxy char rasta. It will come up at an estimated cost of Rs. 165 crore. Proposed flyover will be 2.5 km long.

A revised proposal in this regard along with feasibility report will be presented before the Standing Committee of Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC). A proposal in this regard has received nod of Road and Building Committee of AMC.

Gujarat Municipal Finance Board (GMFB) had approved a Rs 55 crore budget for a small flyover at Naroda Patia junction. However, this solved issues at only one junction. A revised proposal was then made for a longer overbridge, which would cross over all three junctions. The proposal and feasibility report was given in-principle approval at the meeting of the AMC’s roads and buildings committee. GMFB will provide the additional Rs 110 crore under the Chief Minister’s Swarnim Jayanti Urban Development Scheme.

According to the feasibility report, on completion, the overbridge will make commuting smoother for more than 1,50,000 commuters every day and reduce the area’s traffic congestion by 75%. It will also have parking facilities under it.

The present longest flyover in the city is located over Anjali char rasta. The proposed flyover even longer than Anjali flyover will cross Naroda Patiya junction, Naroda Devi Cinema junction and Naroda Galaxy cross road junction. Proposed flyover is one among seven flyovers that are proposed to be built by AMC and approved by the State government. DeshGujarat
