Water storage at Sardar Sarovar crosses 60 per cent mark; Ukai and Kadana above 90 per cent

Gandhinagar: In more good news, Gujarat’s largest dam Sardar Sarovar Narmada dam had fresh inflow of water from upstream areas, thanks to which the water storage crossed 60 per cent mark by 8 pm on Sunday. The dam is designed for 9460 MCM gross storage, against which there was 5677.09 MCM storage at 8 pm. The level was 124.19 m against full reservoir level of 138.68 m. There was 40,546 cusecs inflow at 8 pm. 617 cusecs water was released in river while 1981 cusecs in canals.

Gujarat’s second largest Tapi dam is all set to achieve full reservoir level due to continuous fresh inflow from upstream areas which was 34,422 cusecs at 8 pm. The dam is 94.04 per cent full with level at 104.40 m against full level of 105.16 m. Ukai had 6,972.72 MCM water storage which was for now more than Sardar Sarovar.

The third largest dam of the State, Kadana over river Mahi continued to receive more water from upstream areas. Kadana at 8 pm on Sunday was 92.68 percent full with inflow of 33.154 cusecs. Present gross storage was 1157.82 MCM with level at 126.82 m against full level of 127.71 m.

Among other big dams, Damanganga in South Gujarat is over 95 per cent full, Karjan in Central Gujarat is over 98 per cent full, Dharoi is 42.83 per cent full, Panam is 56.37 per cent full as on 8 pm on Sunday. DeshGujarat
