Gujarat signs MoU to become first state to set up carbon market

Gandhinagar: Gujarat has taken a pioneering step in the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment of making India a zero emissions country by 2070. Today, the Gujarat government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Energy Policy Institute of Chicago and J Pal of South Asia in Gandhinagar to establish a CO2 market in the state. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel was present on the occasion.
These MoUs will ensure that Gujarat gets a prominent place in the ultra-modern global climate policy, and the state will be able to ensure environment conservation alongside industrial development, a note released by the State government stated.
The people of Gujarat will be able to live in a pollution-free atmosphere because of this step. Gujarat will also be able to attract investors as a result while setting an example for the country as a pioneer in the area of CO2 market. DeshGujarat
