New Delhi: Actor Akshay Kumar stated in an interview with a private channel about his visits to Kashi Vishwanath and Somnath that Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan, Kashi and Somnath are connected with one another and he went to Somnath to pay respect rather than promoting his upcoming movie.

The upcoming film Samrat Prithviraj, directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi, starring Akshay Kumar as Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan, is going to be released in cinema on 3rd June. Akshay Kumar said about his visits to Kashi Vishwanath and Somnath in the interview, ” I have not gone for religious reason. I have gone for cultural thing. I have gone to tell people that this is our culture, and why it is essential.” He added, “He (director) explained me why Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan, and Kashi and Somnath are joined with each other. I have gone there, and paid my respect. I have not gone there to ask to publicize my film.”

The director Chandraprakash Dwivedi said in the interview, “There is also a reference of Somnath in our film. I won’t elaborate right now. Somnath was demolished many times. There was a question arisen in front of the country, “Should it (Somnath mandir) be left as it is, which was demolished?” When the country became independent in 1947, Sardar Patel, KM Munshi, and everyone decided. In spite of the fact that Nehru Ji was against it. They stated that Bhagvan Somnath is the center of out faith, and energy. Bhagvan Somnath means, it is about our cultural revival. India, which remained thrall for over 1500 years after 1192; which faced many tyranny, religious conversions; the society faced all such things. Today in the independent country, we have an opportunity for commending this culture again. And Bhagwan Somnath mandir became a symbol of it.”
