Inter-linking of 23 dams under Rs 2,200 crore ‘Sauni Yojana’ completed in Saurashtra

Saurashtra: The work that was underway as part of ‘Sauni Yojana’since 2015 has been completed in Halar. As part of this project, 23 dams of Saurashtra have now been inter-linked at a cost of Rs 2,200 crore and testing of the linking pipeline has also been successfully completed recently. In the coming days, water for irrigation and drinking purpose will now be available in Halar in the entire stretch of villages between Dhrol and Kalyanpur talukas.
The work on laying 143 kilometer long pipeline under the ‘Sauni Yojana’ connecting Macchu-2 dam in Morbi with Sani Dam near Bhatiya-Kalyanpur in Halar marks the completion of work under the ‘Sauni Yojana’. This pipeline also inter-links all 25 reservoirs in Halar. The pipeline will be inaugurated shortly and the irrigation department has already sent its demand for 600 M.C.F.T water for Halar to the Narmada Nigam.
The state government had proposed to supply Narmada water to Saurashtra under the ‘Sauni Yojana’ in 2015. With the completion of ‘Sauni Yojana’, all preparations are now in place to provide water for irrigation and drinking to Halar even in the most adverse circumstances. DeshGujarat.
