PM Modi addresses tribal community of Gujarat on Lord Birsa Mundaji’s birth anniversary

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the tribal community of Gujarat on the occasion of Lord Birsa Mundaji’s birth anniversary – ‘Jaanjatiya Gaurav Diwas’ and explained the role of central and state government’s tribal welfare schemes. He also extended his hearty wishes for all-round progress to the tribal community.

Addressing the community PM said, “Adivasi people of Gujarat blessed me to work for them and learn from them. Now in Delhi I’m using the teaching and lessons of Adivasi people since past 8 years to serve the Adivasi community of entire nation. My government is working with full devotion for betterment of tribal community in the country.”

He stated about the welfare of tribal through various schemes including Jan Dhan Yojna, Gowardhan Yojna, Van Dhan Vikas Kendra and Van Dhan Swayam Sahayta Samuh. He stated about other schemes namely sakhi mandal, Swachh Bharat Mission, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna. He said that the gas connections are supplied for the female beneficiaries through Ujjwala yojna. He stated about Matru Vandana Yojna for pregnant females, and Poshan Abhiyan for children. He said that the road connectivity is provided to remote villages through sadak abhiyan, and mobile connectivity is provided.

He stated about the Eklavya schools and two tribal universities in Gujarat for education. He said that the law disallowing the tribal from cutting bamboo by Britishers was abolished by his government. The tribal can cultivate and sell bamboos due to the same. There is Minimum Support Price (MSP) for around 90 forest produces. The Tribal Research Institute has undertaken the work of finding permenant solution of sickle cell anemia among tribal with help of global scientists. The government supplied covid-19 vaccines to the homes of tribal, he said. The priority was given to the tribal areas in the Mission Indradhanush, for vaccinating the children for various diseases.
