January 04, 2023
Bhuj: Union Home Ministry has allocated Rs. 50 crore sum for the construction of permanent bunkers at Harami Nala and Sir Creek border areas in Kutch. 8 vertical bunkers of 42 ft in height shall be constructed under this initiative. While 3 bunkers shall be in the Sir Creek area, the other 5 will be in the Harami Nala area.
Once ready these structures will offer effective patrolling from the height of 42 ft. 15 BSF jawans will be able to stay on two floors of these structures. The construction works for three permanent bunkers in the Sir Creek area will be completed by the month of March this year. Border Security Force (BSF) jawans will provide security to laborers who are involved in this work. As the area witnesses high tide every fourth hour, no metal will be used in this construction. The sea becomes rough after the month of April every year. The works are therefore going to be completed by the month of April. The permanent structures will create the base for BSF here. The present BSF base is 50-60 km away from the creek area. DeshGujarat
