Court rejects bail plea of accused in Love Jihad case in Surat

Surat: A local court here rejected the bail plea in the Love Jihad case.
A 51-year-old Muhammad Samat Ali Sheikh had introduced himself as Mukesh Mahavir Gupta and married a Hindu girl from Dindili area by claiming that he was a Railway staffer. After a few months of marriage, a victim Hindu girl realized that her husband was not Hindu. She was then asked to adopt the Muslim faith and perform Namaz regularly. Feeling harassed, a victim Hindu girl had filed a complaint in Dindoli police station of Surat, following which an offense under the Freedom of Religion Act and other sections was filed against Muhammad.
The accused is in judicial custody since then. The accused had filed a bail plea for 30 days on health grounds however Government lawyer RP Dobariya had opposed the plea. The court in its order rejected the plea of the accused. DeshGujarat
