Gujarat Govt to mark Atal Bhujal Week on groundwater depletion issue

Gandhinagar: Six districts in the state of Gujarat are currently facing severe groundwater depletion issues. To raise awareness about this pressing issue, the central government has allocated Rs 756 crore under the 100% central-aided Atal Bhujal Yojana for the state of Gujarat.
The spokesperson for the Gujarat government, Rushikesh Patel announced that to spread awareness about water conservation and promote sustainable practices such as sprinkler and drip irrigation, the state government will be marking an ‘Atal Bhujal Week’. The week-long event will focus on educating people about the importance of groundwater conservation and will encourage the adoption of measures for groundwater recharge.
The allocation of Rs 756 crore under the Atal Bhujal Yojana is expected to provide a major boost to groundwater conservation efforts in Gujarat.
