Former Gujarat Governor O P Kohli passes away

Gandhinagar: Former Governor of Gujarat and veteran BJP leader Om Prakash Kohli passed away today at the age of 87. a former Rajya Sabha member and Delhi unit BJP president, was also a leading academician.
Kohli was the 19th Governor of Gujarat from July 16th, 2014 to July 15, 2019. While presiding as Gujarat Governer he also served as the governor of Madya Pradesh and Goa.
Reacting to the news of Kohli’s demise, Minister of State for Home, Harsh Sangahvi tweeted,”The news of the demise of former Governor of Gujarat, senior BJP leader Omprakash Kohli ji is very sad. His dedication and service will always inspire people. Om Shanti

Kohli, with an MA in Hindi from University of Delhi, taught at Hansraj and Deshbandhu Colleges for over 37 years before retiring as a reader in 1994. He was a prominent student leader and three-time all-India president of ABVP, as well as holding leadership positions in various teachers’ organizations. Kohli was arrested during the Emergency and detained for 19 months. He served in the Rajya Sabha from 1994 to 2000 and chaired the housing committee, among other committee memberships.
