The proposed Giga Factory will in the first phase set up and operate India’s first lithium-ion cell manufacturing plant, with a production capacity of 20 GWh and an initial investment of approximately 13,000 crores of rupees. The plant is expected to create direct and indirect employment opportunities for over 13,000 people.
The establishment of this plant by the Tata Group will position Gujarat as a leading state in lithium-ion cell manufacturing and contribute to the development of a battery manufacturing ecosystem in the state. The establishment of this giga factory sets a new direction for Gujarat to achieve the target of 50% carbon emission-free energy and 100% electric vehicle usage in the country by 2030.
During the signing ceremony, Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel expressed the state government’s full support for the success of this project. DeshGujarat
