All 85 bridges, flyovers in Ahmedabad to have cameras; AMC floats tender
July 28, 2023
Ahmedabad: The lack of cameras on the flyover was highlighted after the tragic accident on the Iskcon flyover a week ago. This has now prompted the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and city police to make a decision to install cameras on all 85 bridges and flyovers throughout the city.
The civic body has approved a budget of Rs. 6 crore and has already issued tenders for the installation. Each flyover will likely have 6 cameras. These cameras will have advanced capabilities, such as capturing vehicle number plates, identifying vehicle models, calculating their speed, and detecting traffic rule violations,” mentioned a senior AMC official.
Furthermore, the official explained that feasibility studies and site surveys would be conducted promptly. The agency responsible for installation will adhere to the regulations set forth by the railways, road transport ministry, NHAI, and other relevant authorities. DeshGujarat
