Gandhinagar: A World Bank delegation held a meeting with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Tuesday evening and praised the state’s holistic development achieved through an environmentally-friendly green growth approach.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Patel highlighted that the state accounts for 30% of the country’s cargo handling along its strategic coastline. The state also exports pharmaceuticals, chemicals, petrochemicals, and diamonds through its ports. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on growth, Gujarat has shown remarkable performance in various sectors, achieving a high growth rate of over 12% in the last decade.
The delegation visited the Sabarmati riverfront, Amul dairy in Anand, GIFT City, and the Vidya Samiksha Kendra (Education Review Centre) in Gandhinagar.
At the Vidya Samiksha Kendra, the delegation observed Gujarat’s journey in the education sector and interacted with teachers, students, and parents to learn about the benefits of the Education Review Centre. Earlier, World Bank President Ajay Banga and US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen had also visited the centre in the state capital. DeshGujarat
