Gujarati Hindu wedding season to take over month long break from Dec. 16

Gandhinagar: Ongoing wedding season will take break from December 16 due to beginning of Kamurta. There are however two wedding mahurats still available on 14-15 December. After a Kamurta break, the next wedding mahurat will be available on 21st January.

Surya deva will enter into Dhan rashi on December 16, triggering over a month long Kamurta period during which Gujarati Hindus avoid holding auspicious functions such as wedding.

According to Jyotish, Gujarati Hindu weddings don’t take place during six periods that are Chaturmas, Dhanarak Kamurta, Holashtak, Minarak Kamurta and Ast of Guru and Shukra.

The period starting from December 16 is Dhanarak Kamurta period. Next break shall be during 16-24 March on account of Holashak. Later during 14 March to 13 April there shall be Minarak Kamurta. During 29 April to 28 June next year there shall be Ast of Shukradev while during 6 May to 3 June there shall be Ast of Gurudev.
