AMC suspends Shahpur ward inspector for illegal asset accumulation

Ahmedabad: The city civic body has suspended one Sunil Rana, the inspector of Shahpur ward, on allegations of accumulating assets totaling Rs 2.76 crore through illegitimate means. Rana, who served in the Central Zone office of the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) estate department, allegedly accumulated these assets from 2010 to 2020.
The investigation conducted by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat in a case filed against Rana in 2022 revealed that he had acquired numerous properties. On Tuesday, AMC Commissioner M. Thennarasan suspended the accused officer, and the AMC is currently conducting an inquiry to determine whether Rana’s actions resulted in any losses for the civic body. DeshGujarat
