Diesel engines replaced with Electric in 9 Veraval bound trains

Veraval: Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi recently dedicated electrified lines of Railways in Saurashtra region Rajkot – Okha, Rajkot – Jetalsar – Somnath and Jetalsar-Vansjaliya during his recent visit to Jamnagar and Rajkot. Thanks to this, the rail movement in this region has transformed.

Diesel engines in as many as 9 Veraval-bound trains were replaced with electric engines in last two days. Indore-Veraval-Indore, Bandra-Veraval-Bandra, Veraval-Okha-Veraval, Ahmedabad-Veraval(two trains), Veraval-Rajkot(two trains), Trivendam-Veraval and Pune-Veraval trains had electric engine. With this, there shall be no pollution, no consumption of diesel which means lesser import from abroad, the speed of trains will increase, the delays pertaining to change of engine at Rajkot will go, mre electric run trains will be possible to be introduced in this region.

Around 40,000 km railway tracks across India have been electrified since 2014, versus 21,801 in all the years prior to 2014.
