ACB Gujarat nabs AMC staffers in bribe case

Ahmedabad: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat today, nabbed a peon and a security guard of the Sub Zonal office (West Zone) of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) in Ranip in relation to a bribery case involving Rs. 1200.

According to the details of the case, the son of the complainant owned a house in the Ranip ward, but the old owner of the house is listed as the occupier in the tax bill. To make changes to this, the complainant applied to amend the name through the proper process. To expedite this amendment process, the accused, Pravinbhai Popatbhai Thakor, a Class 4 staffer (Pattawala) at the Ranip Ward, Sub Zonal Office West Zone of AMC, demanded that the plaintiff pay Rs. 1200.

As the plaintiff was unwilling to pay the bribe, he contacted the ACB, which set up a bribery trap. During the trap, the accused Pravinbhai Thakor, along with accused Harpal Singh Kodar Singh Makwana (Security Guard), were caught red-handed while demanding the bribe. DeshGujarat
