Amul launches fresh milk range in the US

Anand: In the first such instance of selling fresh milk outside of India, Amul has launched its fresh milk range in the US. The joint venture between Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) and 108-year-old dairy cooperative Michigan Milk Producers Association (MMPA) was announced during MMPA’s 108th annual meeting in Michigan on Thursday.

In the US, Amul has introduced its fresh milk range in one-gallon and half-gallon packs, maintaining the familiar brand names and compositions popular in India – Amul Gold (6% milk fat), Amul Shakti (4.5% milk fat), Amul Taaza (3% milk fat), and Amul Slim n Trim (2% milk fat). These variants will be sold at major Indian grocery stores across the East Coast and Midwest.

This mover follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to Gujarat farmers at the GCMMF golden jubilee celebrations in Ahmedabad a month ago, urging them to make Amul the world’s largest dairy producer. Amul also plans to expand its US product line to include curd, buttermilk, and paneer to meet the rising demand from the Indian diaspora. DeshGujarat
