Gandhinagar: About five hours meeting was held at the Gujarat Chief Minister’s residence to discuss the protest from within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) against Lok Sabha election candidate on the Sabarkantha seat.

Chief Minister, State party chief, General Secretary (organization), and Minister of State for Home were among those present in the meeting. They held one-to-one meetings with part office bearers and elected representatives regarding the protests from within the party against the party candidate.

MLA Ramanlal Vora, VD Zala, MP Dipsinh Rathod, Rajya Sabha MP Ramilaben Bara, Bayad MLA Dhavalsinh Zala, former MLAs Hitu Kanodiya, Ashwin Kotwal, district BJP chief Kanu Patel, General Secretary for North Gujarat region Rajni Patel, previously declared candidate Bhikhaji Thakor, Kaushalya Kunvar Ba, Rekhaba among others were present in this meeting.

A day ago, MoS Home Harsh Sanghavi visited Himmatnagar and held prolonged meetings over the discontent in the party over the selection of candidates. It’s worth noting that the party had earlier declared Bhikhaji Thakor as the candidate, but later declared Shobhnaben Baraiya as the candidate. Bhikhaji’s supporters have created a ruckus at district party headquarters more than once over the change in candidate. They also stopped the highway and gave a strike call in Meghraj town.
