Rajkot: Rajkot Police detained four individuals on Thursday for spreading enmity between the Leuva and Kadwa Patels by circulating a letter.
The police action came after the Rajkot City BJP President Mukesh Doshi submitted a memorandum at the police commissioner’s office, alleging that miscreants linked to Congress candidate from the Rajkot Lok Sabha seat, Paresh Dhanani, are trying to create enmity between the two communities. The complaint alleges that a letter titled “Jago Leuva Patelo Jajo” has been circulated to instigate enmity between the Leuva and Kadwa Patels.
The ruling party demanded action against those responsible for spreading such enmity. In response, the police have detained a total of four youths. Based on a complaint filed by BJP president of ward no. 11, Mahesh Pipaliya, legal action has been taken against Ketanbhai Tala, Prakashbhai Vejpara, Deepbhai Bhanderi, and Vipulbhai Tarpara under various sections of the IPC, including one for inciting enmity between communities and promoting caste-based conflict.
After the detention of the four individuals, Congress leaders visited the crime branch office late at night and alleged that the Leuva Patels were being targeted. DeshGujarat
