Heatwave continues in Gujarat; 2 deaths reported in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: As severe heatwave conditions persisted in several districts of Gujarat today, the city witnessed a temperature of 45.5 degrees Celsius. For the first time ever, two people died of heatstroke in Ahmedabad. Today, 41 individuals were admitted to Ahmedabad Civil Hospital through the 108 emergency service due to heatstroke. Among them, two individuals reportedly succumbed to heatstroke.
The IMD, in its latest bulletin, said that the heatwave is likely to continue for the next three days across the state. As per the bulletin Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar are on red alert for the next 24 hours.
On May 24, Friday, the districts of Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Morbi, Surendranagar, Bhavnagar, Junagadh, Amreli, Rajkot, Botad, Kutch, Anand, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Mehsana, Patan, Surat, Valsad, Vadodara, Aravalli, Chhota Udepur, Panchmahal, and Kheda are expected to remain under heatwave conditions.
On May 25 and 26, heatwave conditions are very likely to prevail in isolated pockets in the districts of Morbi, Surendranagar, Bhavnagar, Junagadh, Amreli, Rajkot, Botad, Kutch, Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Anand, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Mehsana, Patan, Surat, Valsad, Vadodara, Aravalli, Chhota Udepur, Panchmahal, and Kheda.
