Surat: Artificial Intelligence (AI) will soon regulate the timings of traffic signals across Surat. The city Police Commissioner has planned this and issued directives for implementation. With the integration of AI software, the signal timers will be synchronized to manage traffic flow more efficiently.

The measure is implemented in response to recent issues faced by people due to traffic jams and prolonged waiting times. AI technology will provide data on the number of vehicles waiting at signals within seconds. Additionally, it will detect traffic violations, capturing images of violators that will be sent to the control room for further action. Offenders will face penalties for their actions.

AI technology will help in the real-time monitoring of traffic flow on major roads. It will allow the authorities to respond promptly to congestion issues. For instance, due to frequent traffic jams on the Piplod to Dumas road during weekends, signal timings are being adjusted manually. With AI’s assistance, authorities aim to mitigate such traffic issues effectively.
