Surat: Two corporators of the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC), who belong to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), have been accused of corruption. AAP corporators Jitendra Kachhadiya and Vipul Suhagiya are alleged to have accepted a bribe totaling Rs. 10 lakhs.
It is alleged that they accepted this bribe from a Pay and Park contractor. An application has been submitted with the ACB (Anti-Corruption Bureau) against both corporators. Jitendra Kachhadiya and Vipul Suhagiya are named in the application to the ACB. The Pay & Park contractor, Hitesh Savani, submitted evidence including CCTV footage and audio recordings to the ACB. The application also implicates an officer and an employee of the SMC in the case.
Jitendra Kachhadiya has denied the bribery allegations, stating, “Some contractors were running the SMC’s Pay and Park operations even after their contract expired. As we raised this issue with the SMC through a written application, the parking mafia is now leveling false allegations against us.” DeshGujarat
