Ahmedabad: The city crime branch on Tuesday arrested two members of the Antarrashtriya Hindu Parishad (AHP) for allegedly spreading false information that the Gujarat government plans to demolish 25,000 temples and inciting Hindus.
According to the FIR with the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB), the arrested individuals, Ranchhod Bharwad and Bachu Ladva, made a video statement that was posted on X, claiming that the government would demolish Hindu temples. The police are yet to establish the connection between the X user who uploaded the video and Bharwad and Ladva.
The video, shot on July 21, featured Ladva allegedly stating that the BJP government had decided to demolish 25,000 temples and had issued notices to the respective temple authorities. He further claimed that the BJP government’s actions are reminiscent of what Mahmud Ghazni did around 1,000 years ago.
The DCB has charged them under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including forgery, mischief, malicious acts, and promoting enmity. DeshGujarat
