Govt makes new coordination plan to manage traffic in 4 cities of Gujarat
September 26, 2024
Gandhinagar: The state home department issued a notification on Wednesday to improve coordination between municipal and police officials in Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Vadodara, and Surat to address traffic management issues. This follows a Gujarat High Court order from August 28, 2024, emphasizing collaboration to implement traffic management.
The notification mandates monthly meetings chaired by the police commissioner and municipal commissioner in each city to create action plans for managing stray cattle and reducing accident-prone areas. Reports must be submitted to the additional chief secretary (home) and the principal secretary of the urban development department.
Committees led by the deputy commissioner of police and deputy municipal commissioner will meet biweekly to review traffic management and report to their respective officials. A bimonthly meeting will also be held under the joint chairmanship of the ACS home and the PS of urban development to assess progress. DeshGujarat
