Rajkot: Ahead of Diwali, the Income Tax Department and Goods and Services Tax Department are actively investigating allegations of tax evasion. On Friday, the IT Department conducted searches at Bhavani Construction, located on Kalavad Road in the city.

The IT authorities were reportedly investigating the real estate firm for the non-payment of TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) amounting to Rs 50 lakhs. A survey was conducted at the firm, after which the company indicated it would pay Rs 25 lakhs in tax immediately and the remaining amount in the next financial year.
