Commuters irked over 3rd toll plaza within 60 km Gir Somnath-Diu route
November 09, 2024
Gir Somnath: Earlier, while traveling between Gir Somnath and Diu, commuters used to face two toll plazas on a 60 km route. However, now a third toll plaza has also become operational at Sunderpara. Commuters are irked as they have to pay toll at three plazas on just a 60 km route.
A local resident stated, “There are three toll plazas in 60 km. We do not earn more than ₹120 on one trip, but now we have to pay at all the toll plazas.”
On this 60 km route, the Dari Toll Plaza and Velva Toll Plaza were already functioning. Now, 24 km from Dari, another Sunderpara toll plaza has become operational. According to a statement from the Union Minister of Road and Transport, the distance between two toll plazas should be more than 60 km, and if there is a toll in between, travelers are not supposed to pay toll tax. Yet, three tolls have been operational between Gir Somnath and Diu, charging money from commuters. DeshGujarat
