New terminal building of Rajkot Hirasar Airport ready; dates sought from PMO for inauguration

Rajkot: The first meeting of the Airport Advisory Committee for Rajkot International Airport was held on Thursday. BJP MP from Rajkot and former Union Minister Purushottam Rupala has been appointed as the chairman of the committee, with Rajya Sabha MP Rambhai Mokariya and Kesridevsinh Jhala named as members.
During the meeting, the readiness of the new terminal building at the greenfield airport was reviewed. Airport Director Diganta Borah informed the committee that the new terminal building is complete. It was also stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been invited to inaugurate the new terminal, although it remains to be confirmed whether the inauguration will take place in person or virtually.
Other members of the committee include Wankaner MLA Jitendra Somani, Rajkot Collector and District Magistrate Prabhav Joshi, Rajkot Police Commissioner Brijeshkumar Jha, and Chief Airport Security Officer Amandeep Sirsava. Additionally, Indigo Airlines Airport Manager Lloyd Pinto and Air India Airport Manager Krishna Chaturvedi have been appointed to the committee.
Also included are Dr. Prakash Modha, Director of Gokul Hospital; Dr. Mihir Maniar; social activist and political leader Mayur Shah; Rajan Wadalia, Managing Director of High Bond Cement; Pranav Bhalara of the Chamber of Commerce and Balaji Multiplex; and Gopal Undkat, Managing Director of Adesh Travels.
