January 16, 2025
Kandla: Larsen & Toubro (L&T) plans to invest up to ₹48,000 crore over the next decade to establish six green ammonia manufacturing units at the Deendayal Port Authority in Kandla, according to a report by the Economic Times.
As per the report, each of these six units, with a capacity of 300 KTPA (thousand tonnes per annum), will be developed in phases, with an investment of up to ₹8,000 crore per plant.
Green ammonia, a crucial component in industrial decarbonization, is witnessing growing global demand as companies across industries accelerate efforts to achieve net-zero emission goals.
The report further mentions that L&T is in talks with multiple global buyers and expects to finalize agreements for manufacturing and exporting green ammonia in the coming months.
In April 2024, L&T acquired around 500 acres at Kandla Port to establish the facility, aiming to make it a hub for green ammonia exports. DeshGujarat
