Hirasar based Rajkot International Airport New Terminal now operational

Rajkot: The new terminal of Rajkot International Airport was opened today with Garba dance performances. Rs. 326 crore terminal is spread over 23,000 square meters area. A notification is already published allowing cargo goods here by the Central Board of Indirect Tax & Customs. The first flight at new terminal arrived from Mumbai.
The new terminal has capacity to handle upto 2800 passengers at a time. It has four aerobridges and parking facility for 14 aircraft. The new terminal has 3 conveyer belts, 20 check-in counters, over 250 CCTV cameras, fire alarm system, cultural displays in the forms of murals and wall paintings.
The Rajkot airport at Hirasar witnesses around 10 flights – all domestic, connecting it to Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Goa, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Amedabad. All these flights are going to be operated from the new terminal from today.
Hirasar village based Rajkot International Airport is located at 35 km distance from Rajkot. The old Rajkot airport which was located within Rajkot city had no scope of further development due to space crunch, while the new airport which is located little out side the city can host larger aircraft.
