AMC seizes over 260 kg of paneer, shuts down unlicensed unit

Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has seized over 260 kg of paneer worth ₹65,400 from various dairy units in the city during inspections conducted between March 24 and March 26 under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. The food department also suspended the sale of over 230 kg of paneer worth ₹72,700 due to safety concerns.

In an official press note, AMC stated, “The Food Division of Amdavad Municipal Corporation’s Health Department, under Additional Health Officer Dr. Bhavin Joshi and the Designated Officer, conducted inspections across multiple city wards under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. The inspections, held from March 24 to March 26, focused on food businesses dealing with paneer.”

Additionally, on March 25, an unlicensed paneer manufacturing unit at Vasanti Women’s Home Industry, Ramol, was found operating in unhygienic conditions and was shut down indefinitely in the interest of public health.

The Food Department has announced continued inspections across the city, targeting ice cream, lassi, mango juice, sugarcane juice, packaged drinking water, sweets, snacks, dairy products, bakery items, chocolates, edible oils, and prepared foods.
