AMC seals 12 shops including ISKON Ganthiya, Rajwadi Gatral Tea, Gajanand Pauva on SG Highway

Ahmedabad: In a move to ease traffic congestion, the South West Zone Estate and Town Development Department today sealed twelve commercial establishments located opposite Karnavati Club on SG Highway. The action was taken against units including Iscon Ganthiya, Karnavati Snacks, Rajwadi Tea, Gatral Tea Stall, and Gajanand Pauva House, among others, for their failure to provide adequate parking arrangements for customers despite repeated written and verbal instructions.

According to sources within the department, these businesses had been previously directed to organize parking facilities for their patrons to ensure the smooth flow of vehicular traffic on the busy SG Highway. However, despite assurances from the establishments, the required parking arrangements were not implemented.

The persistent lack of parking space for customers visiting these popular eateries and snack joints had reportedly been contributing to traffic snarls and inconvenience for commuters along this stretch of the highway.

Frustrated by the lack of compliance, the South West Zone Estate and Town Development Department took decisive action today, sealing a total of twelve shops. This measure aims to send a strong message to other commercial establishments in the area to adhere to parking regulations and prioritize the convenience of the general public.

The sealing of these businesses is likely to cause temporary disruption for customers who frequent these establishments. However, authorities maintain that this step is crucial for long-term traffic management and ensuring a smoother flow of vehicles on one of Ahmedabad’s busiest roads.
It remains to be seen what steps the sealed businesses will now take to rectify the parking situation and resume their operations. The department has not yet issued a statement regarding the duration of the sealing or the conditions under which the establishments can be reopened.

This incident highlights the ongoing challenges of managing parking in rapidly developing urban areas and the importance of businesses taking responsibility for their customers’ parking needs. DeshGujarat
