AMC to set up ₹96 crore Urban House
June 03, 2025
Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) today announced the development of an ‘Urban House’, a centralized facility that will bring together all key urban planning services under one roof. This initiative is part of Urban Development Year–2025, aimed at streamlining urban infrastructure and ensuring citizen-centric service delivery, the civic body said.
The Urban House will consolidate services from the Urban Development, City Planning, and Estate departments. Citizens will be able to access various services such as part plans, zoning certificates, F-forms, development permissions, betterment charge assessments, and other land-related approvals, all from a single location.
The project will be built at F.P. No. 441, T.P. Scheme No. 3, Ellisbridge (Changispur), Navrangpura Ward, near the road connecting N.C.C. Circle and Nagari Hospital. The project site covers a total plot area of 5,304 sq.m., with a built-up area of 26,360 sq.m. The structure will comprise two basements, a ground floor, and ten upper floors.
A dedicated green/garden area of 1,055 sq.m. and an additional roof garden of 138 sq.m. are also planned at the site. The estimated project cost is ₹96 crore, and it is expected to be completed in 2.5 years.
The building will house central offices of the BPSP, City Planning, and TDO departments, along with the Town Planning Officer’s office, record storage rooms, a GIS cell, training centers, a server room, cafeteria, terrace garden-canteen, and offices for senior officials. Ample parking will be available, with capacity for 140 four-wheelers and 1,184 two-wheelers in the two basement levels.
Designed with a strong focus on sustainability, the Urban House aims to achieve a Platinum Rating from the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC). Eco-friendly features will include solar power generation, water conservation systems, energy-efficient design, the use of eco-certified construction materials, indoor air quality standards, and wastewater recycling systems.
Additionally, the facility will include conference halls equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi and modern amenities, supporting seminars, training programs, and knowledge exchange.
It is also noteworthy that AMC has reported a consistent rise in revenue from these departments over the past three financial years: ₹1,170 crore in 2022–23, ₹2,017 crore in 2023–24, and ₹2,765 crore in 2024–25, bringing the total to ₹5,952 crore. This growth highlights the increasing scope and importance of efficient urban management in Ahmedabad. DeshGujarat
