AMC Opens Key 24.38-Metre TP Road in Ahmedabad by Clearing 90 Structures

Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Sunday undertook a major urban development operation by initiating the opening of a vital 24.38-metre-wide Town Planning (TP) road from Subhashnagar to Baldevnagar via Gandhivas in the Sabarmati ward of the city’s West Zone.

The work was carried out under Final TP Scheme No. 23 (Sabarmati), following due legal procedures as per the Town Planning Act. Notices were previously issued to occupants whose constructions and structures were obstructing the proposed TP road, allowing them ample time to vacate and remove the structures voluntarily.

On Sunday, enforcement teams from the Estate Department, in coordination with personnel from the Police Department, Fire Department, Medical Services, Urban Community Development (UCD), Torrent Power, and other support agencies, executed the clearance operation.

During the action, approximately 90 unauthorized or obstructing constructions were successfully removed using 3 Hitachi machines, 5 JCB machines, and laborers from private contractors. At the conclusion of today’s efforts, about 30% of the total road stretch has been opened. The operation was conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner and is scheduled to continue on Monday.

As part of the rehabilitation and resettlement process, AMC issued house rent checks to 49 occupants who qualified for alternative accommodation today. An additional 43 eligible occupants are expected to receive their checks tomorrow. All 92 eligible individuals will be allotted new houses in due course.

The AMC’s West Zone team is also actively collecting documentation and verifying the eligibility of remaining occupants. Based on verified evidence, further compensation in the form of house rent checks and new housing allotments will be provided. DeshGujarat
