Gujarat HC junks plea against TP 241, paving way for Olympic infra at Nana Chiloda

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat High Court has dismissed a 2013 petition that had blocked the implementation of Town Planning Scheme No. 241 for Nana Chiloda, effectively allowing the development of crucial infrastructure linked to Ahmedabad’s 2036 Olympic bid.

Justice Mauna Bhatt ruled in favour of the State and the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), lifting the freeze on a major east-west arterial road vital for connecting the Sardar Patel Sports Complex and Motera. The petition, filed by Manaji Thakor and others, had challenged eviction and land allotment notices related to Survey No. 33/2, citing measurement discrepancies. However, the court found that the land had legally vested with the planning authority under Section 48-A of the Gujarat Town Planning and Urban Development Act and noted that the petitioners had failed to contest the revenue authority’s order rejecting their correction request.

The government counsel emphasized that the contested stretch forms part of a 30-metre-wide road essential for easing traffic and linking the Olympic zone. The ruling removes a long-standing bottleneck on the SP Ring Road–Airport corridor and allows civic bodies to resume long-pending works halted since 2012.

The court’s decision comes just days after Ahmedabad was officially declared India’s Host City for the Olympic bid. DeshGujarat
