Gujarat govt to distribute 34,483 sports kits worth ₹29.45 crore to school children

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat Government today announced that, in order to promote interest in sports among schoolchildren, it will distribute a total of 34,483 sports kits containing a variety of equipment to students in government primary, secondary, and higher secondary schools across the state. These kits, to be provided at a total cost of over ₹29.45 crore, will include 30 types of sports items aimed at enhancing physical activity and encouraging participation in sports.

These sports kits will be prepared per school and distributed up to the cluster level in every district of the state. A total of more than 34,400 sports kits will be allocated across the following zones:

Zone 1: Aravalli, Banaskantha, Mehsana, Patan, Sabarkantha
Zone 2: Ahmedabad, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, Botad, Kutch, Kheda, Morbi, Surendranagar
Zone 3: Amreli, Bhavnagar, Devbhumi Dwarka, Gir-Somnath, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Porbandar, Rajkot, Rajkot Municipal Corporation
Zone 4: Anand, Chhota Udepur, Dahod, Gandhinagar, Mahisagar, Panchmahal
Zone 5: Bharuch, Narmada, Navsari, Surat, Surat Municipal Corporation, Tapi, Dang, Vadodara, Vadodara Municipal Corporation, and Valsad districts.

Previously, in 2022, the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan office provided grants to all government schools for the purchase of sports equipment. However, this time, to ensure greater transparency and better quality, and to make more equipment available at a lower cost, Samagra Shiksha will directly supply sports kits to state government schools.

Sports Equipment Included in the Kit:

Each kit will contain carrom boards, cricket bats (various sizes), badminton rackets, shuttlecocks, footballs, volleyballs, handballs, discuses, rubber shot puts, javelins, chess sets, skipping ropes, hurdle sets, marking cone sets, relay baton sets, saucer cone sets, tennis cots, cricket stump sets, soft tennis balls, hard tennis balls, stopwatches, and air hand pumps.
