September 19, 2025
Gir Somnath: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat today trapped another computer operator in a decoy bribe operation. The accused, Naimishbhai Mehta, was working with UIDAI as a contractual employee.
According to the details, the ACB had received information that at the Veraval CSC Aadhaar Centre, applicants seeking Aadhaar updates or related services were being charged extra bribe amounts ranging from ₹100 to ₹500, over and above the official fee. Applicants who refused to pay the bribe were made to wait in line for long periods and were subjected to harassment.
Based on this tip-off, the ACB planned a decoy operation with the help of a vigilant citizen. During the trap, the accused, Naimishbhai Mehta, demanded extra money from the decoy while updating the mobile number in the Aadhaar card. He accepted the ₹100 bribe and was immediately apprehended on the spot for his corrupt actions. DeshGujarat
